(Discover Kalamazoo 10) Discover Kalamazoo County Tour: The Village of Climax

Entrance to the Lawrence Memorial Library and Prairie Historical Society in Climax. Livemic photo.

The next stop on the Discover Kalamazoo County Tour takes us south and east of Kalamazoo, to the Village of Climax.

As we learn from Climax podcaster Kevin Harvey (whose parents oversee the Prairie Historical Society in town), Climax has a proud history. That includes the first U.S. Post Office Rural Free Delivery service in Michigan. Climax has even built a monument to commemorate it.

Click and hear Kevin talk about more Climax history, its collaborative school district with neighboring Scotts and how the town got its name.
